Undergraduate Certificate in Archaeology

• 1. The course shall consist of classes, practical exercises and site visits on the subject of Archaeology. The course is available on a part-time basis only to be taken over a period of two years.

• 2. Every candidate will be required to satisfy the examiners in the following:

1. • a. Eight assignments each of not more than 2,000 words; 
   • b. Two reflective practical learning portfolios each of not more than 2,000 words, covering work undertaken during the practical exercises, one for each year of the course;
   • c. One written examination, covering the subjects taught in the first year of the course;
   • d. One extended project of not more than 5,000 words on a subject of the candidate’s choice relating to the course material and agreed with the Course Director. 

 All work will be submitted to the examiners via the approved online submission system. Deadlines for assignments under 2a will be provided in the course handbook published at the start of the year. The portfolios under 2b will be submitted by (i) 2.00pm on the last Thursday in July of the first year of the course and (ii) by 2.00pm on the first Thursday in June of the second year of the course. The extended project under 2d will be submitted by 2.00pm on the third Thursday in July of the second year of the course. 

• 3. Candidates who fail to satisfy the examiners in the assessed work specified in 2 a-d are permitted a further attempt at each assessment which they have failed on not more than one occasion which shall normally be within one year of the initial failure.
