Master of Science by Coursework in Global Women's Health
1. The Divisional Board of Medical Sciences shall elect for the supervision of the course an Organising Committee. The Organising Committee will oversee teaching provision and will nominate Examiners for the Examinations Board.
2. To be eligible for the award a candidate must follow a course of instruction on a part-time basis over two years.
3. Candidates must complete the following:
(i) attendance and participation in core modules, residentials and two chosen option modules as specified in the Schedule
(ii) completion of the summative assessment for Modules 1 to 5 as specified below:
A. A multiple choice examination covering content from Modules 1 and 2.
B. A written assessment covering content from Module 1 and submitted in Hilary term of the first year.
C. A written assessment covering content from Module 2 and submitted in Hilary term of the first year.
D. A written assessment covering content from Modules 3 and 4, submitted in Trinity term of the first year.
E. A presentation covering content from Modules 3 and 4, submitted in Trinity term of the first year.
F. A presentation using skills acquired from Module 5.
G. A research project outline with associated study protocol, serving as the basis for the dissertation, submitted by the last week of Michaelmas Term of the second year.
(iii) A dissertation on an approved research question and a related research poster. These must be submitted by the last Thursday in August in the second year. Borderline candidates may be further examined through viva voce.
4. The dates for submission of assessments in 3.(ii) B-E and G and the date for the presentation in 3.(ii) F will be published in the course handbook.
5. Written submissions including the dissertation must be uploaded to the University approved online assessment platform by the dates specified in the course handbook.
6. Candidates who fail any assessment on the first attempt will be able to resit on one further occasion. Resubmission dates will be specified in the course handbook.
Exit awards
7. Candidates who have failed the requirements of the MSc but have satisfied the requirements for the award of the Postgraduate Diploma (all the requirements for the MSc, except the dissertation) may be awarded the Postgraduate Diploma.
8. Candidates who have satisfied the requirements for the award of the Postgraduate Diploma (all the requirements for the MSc, except completion of the dissertation) but are unable to or do not wish to continue their studies and complete the dissertation, may end their registration and at that point be awarded the Postgraduate Diploma.
