Undergraduate Diploma in Theological Studies
Differences from 2015/16 to 2023/24

1. The course shall consist of lectures, tutorials, seminars and/or classes on the subject of Theology. The course is available on a full-time basis, taken over a period of three terms, or on a part-time basis taken over a period of six terms.

2. Candidates
may be permitted under certain circumstances to suspend status for a maximum of six terms. Any such period shall not count towards the minimum and maximum periods of registration, and no fee liability will be incurred during such periods. 3.Candidateswill normally be expected to havesatisfactorilybeencompletedexamined for papers for the Undergraduate Certificate in Theological Studies according to the requirements set out in clause 3 of those regulations and to have been awarded a pass mark in all papers completed by the end of Trinity Full Term of year 1 for full-time students or of Trinity Full Term of year 2 for part-time students. Applications for dispensation from this requirement will be considered, in exceptional circumstances only, by the Continuing Education Board. To be dispensed from this requirement, candidates must demonstrate that they have undertaken equivalent study to an equivalent standard.

At least oneEach of Papers A1ortoA2A4 from Part 1 oftheSchedule for the Degree of Bachelor of Theology; -

AtTwo further papers from Part 1 of the same Schedule, at least one ofA3whichormustA4be selected fromthe Part 1 schedule; iii.At least one ofPapers A5–A10fromtothe Part 1 schedule;iv.Three other papers from the Part 1 scheduleA8.

54. 4(b)3. and5(b)4. including any videos or other recordings will be submittedtovia theExaminersUniversityforapproved online assessment platform in accordance with theDiplomainstructions inTheological Studies, Examination Schools, High Street, Oxford, for consideration by such dates astheexaminerscourseshall determine and shall notify candidateshandbook. -
5. In each year of the course, full-time students must submit or be examined in at least two papers by the end of Hilary Full term, at least two papers by the end of Trinity Full term and the remainder of papers for the year by the Long Vacation submission deadline. Part-time students must submit or be examined in three papers in each year of the course with at least one paper by the end of Hilary Full term each year, at least one paper by the end of Trinity Full term each year and the remaining papers for the year by the Long Vacation deadline. The exact dates will be published in the course handbook at the beginning of each academic year.
- 6. Candidates may be
expectedrequired to attend a viva voce examination at the end of the course. 7.The examiners may award a distinction to candidates for the Diploma.87. For any candidate who is successful in the examination for the Undergraduate Diploma in Theological Studies and who has already successfully completed the Undergraduate Certificate in Theological Studies (and for the diploma examination has incorporated the assignments submitted or examinations taken for the Undergraduate Certificate) the Undergraduate Diploma will subsumehis or hertheir Certificate.98. Any candidate who has successfully completed Part 1 and who does not either proceed to, or successfully complete, Part 2, and who has not previously successfully completed the Undergraduate Certificate in Theological Studies shall be awarded the Certificate.109. Candidates who fail to satisfy the examiners in the written work or the examinations under4(b)3 or5(b)4maywill be permitted to resubmit work in respect of the part or parts of the examination which they have failed, on not more than one occasion, which shall normally be within one year of the initial failure.
