Course(a)The course shall consist of lectures, tutorials, seminars and classes on the subject of the History of Art. The course, whichis available on a part-time basis only, may be takenover a period ofa minimum oftwo, and no more than fiveyears.(b)2. The subjects of the course will be taught in four one-year modules of which candidates must offer two. Two modules will be available each year. Modules currently available are:-

(a)Attendance at the theoretical courses; students must attend a minimum of 75 per cent of the equivalent of 30 two-hour sessions; (b)Attendance at five Saturday Study Days;(c)i) Twoessaysassignments, each of which shall not exceed 3,000 words in length;iib) A research project consisting of no more than 8,000 words in length each, based on a subject of the candidate’s choice relating to the course material and agreed with the Course Director;iiic) Awrittenpresentationthree-houronexaminationapapertopic covered by the course.

essaysassignments under(c)ia) and the project under(c)iib) will beforwardedsubmitted to the examiners for consideration by such dates as the examiners shall determine and shall notify candidates. The assignments and the research project shall be submitted via the University approved online assessment platform. The presentation shall be delivered at such times and locations as are provided in the course handbook.

34. Candidates may be required to attend a viva voce examination at the end of the course. 45. The examiners may award a distinction to candidates for the Diploma.56.Candidates must achieve a pass mark (40 per cent) in each element of assessment in each module: the two essays under 2(c)i) taken together; the research project under 2(c)ii) and the examination under 2(c)iii).Candidates who fail to satisfy the examiners in any element may be permitted to resubmit work in respect of that element on not more than one occasion which shall normally be within one year of the initial failure.
