Course(a)The coursewillshall consist of lectures, tutorials, seminars and classes on the subject of Archaeology. The course, whichis available on a part-time basis only,mayto be taken over a period ofa minimum oftwo, and no more than threeyears.(b)The subjects of the course will be taught in two one-year modules. One module shall be offered each year. Candidates must complete the introductory moduleDiscovering Archaeology: its purpose and practice(Module A) before proceeding to Module B. To qualify for the award of the Certificate, candidates must satisfy the examiners in modules A and B.

2. Every candidate will be required to satisfy the examiners in the following:

(a)
AttendanceNineatassignmentsa minimumeach of75notpermorecentthanof2,000class-based sessionswords; -
(b)
AttendanceOneatfieldonetrainingweekprogramme learning journal offieldworknot(andmoreassociated written work) and study visits to the satisfaction of the Course Director; (c)Attendance at a minimum of two one-hour tutorials in the second year of the course;(d)Three practical assignments, of which two shall be between 1,000 and 1,500 words in length, and one shall be between 2,000 and 2,500 words, based on the practical work undertaken in Module A;(e)Three written assignments of normally between 1,400 and 1,600 words in length, based on the subjects taught in Module A;(f)Three practical assignments, each of which shall be between 1,000 and 1,500 words in length, based on the practical work undertaken in Module B;(g)Three written assignments of normally between 1,800 andthan 2,000 wordsincoveringlength,workbasedundertakenonduring thesubjectsfieldtaughttrainingin Module Bprogramme;-

h)One written assignment totalling no more than 1,000 words in length, and a field notebook, covering work done in the fieldwork week; (ic) One two-hour written examination, covering the subjects taught inModuletheAfirst year of the course;-

jd) One extendedprojectassignment ofbetweennot4,500moreandthan 5,500000 wordsin length consisting ofon a subject of the candidate'’s choice relating to the course materialin Module Band agreed with the Course Director.

The written work under
clausesclause 2(a, b),(and d)–(j) will beforwardedsubmitted via the approved online submission system to the examiners for consideration by such dates as the examiners shall determine and shall notify candidates. -
3. Candidates may be required to attend a viva voce examination at the end of the course.

.The examiners may award a distinction to candidates for the Certificate.5. Candidates who fail to satisfy the examiners in the assessed work specified inclauses2(b), (a-d), to (j) may be permitted to resubmit work in respect ofthepart or parts of the examination which they have failed on not more than one occasion which shall normally be within one year of the initial failure.
