  • 1. EveryThe candidateCourse mustshall followbe forunder sixthe terms a part-time coursesupervision of instruction in Teacher Education, approved by the Academic Committee of the Department of Education.

  • 2. All candidates on the courseCandidates will be requiredexpected to completeparticipate threein summativelya assessed unitscourse of studyinstruction for six terms part-time, including two formatively assessedone-week residential unitssessions and a researchseries of online lectures and development dissertationseminars.

  • 23. TheCandidates M.Sc.are inrequired Teacherto Education shall be examined by means ofsubmit three assignments relating to the content of each of the three units and a research and development dissertation. Assignments one and two must be between 4,000 and 5,000 words in length, and assignment three must be a maximum of 10,000 words in length. All word counts include tables, charts and diagrams and assignments must be written in accordance with guidance given in the unit. Assignments one and two must be uploadedsubmitted to the University approved online assessment platform by no later than noon on MondayTuesday of Week 1 of Hilary and Trinity terms respectively. Assignment three must be uploaded to the University approved online assessment platform bysubmitted no later than noon on the third FridayThursday in September in the candidate's first year of the course.

The deadline for resubmission of assignments one and two will be noon on the MondayTuesday falling 148 weeks after the initialrelease submissionof date, following the term in which the unit is takenresults. The deadline for resubmission of assignment three will be noon on MondayTuesday of week 1 of Hilary term in the candidate’s second year of the course.

  • 5. Candidates who successfully complete the first formatively assessed residential unit and the three summatively assessed units of study and who choose not to continue with their programme of study may be awarded a Postgraduate Diploma in Teacher Education.

  • 56. TheCandidates researchare andrequired developmentto submit a dissertation will present a systematic account of a substantial practitioner research enquiry, focused on the design and implementation of a specific innovation in teacher education with a strong emphasis on the choice of appropriate criteria, and relevant evidence for evaluating its impact. The dissertation must be between 15,000 and 20,000 words in length. The dissertation must be uploadedsubmitted to the University approved online assessment platform by no later than noon on the third FridayTuesday in September in the candidate’s second year on the course.

  • 7. 6All assessments must be submitted using the University approved online submission system. Technical information on the requirements for online submissions is provided in the Course Handbook.

  • 8. Candidates may also be examined orally onfor theirany final research and development dissertation before the Michaelmas term Examination Board meetingassessment.  All candidates will be informed of the date at the start of the second year, as they will be required to attend Oxford in person.

  • 79. If the dissertation is awarded a failing mark, the candidate may resubmit the dissertation one further time on the next occasion when it is examined, or at an earlier date as agreed with the Course Director. If having passed the three assessments a failing mark is received for the dissertation, either at the time of the original submission (and the candidate does not wish to re-sit) or after re-submission, students may apply to exit the programme with a Postgraduate Diploma.
