Master of Science by Coursework in Global Health Science and Epidemiology
Differences from 2020/21 to 2024/25

1. The Divisional Board of Medical Sciences will appoint an Organising Committee to supervise the course, which will have the power to arrange lectures and other instruction.

2. The Organising Committee of the course will appoint an academic adviser for each candidate.

3. Each candidate must follow a course of study in Global Health Science and Epidemiology for at least three terms and for a substantial part of the three subsequent vacations, as determined by the course timetable.

4. Candidates
shallmustbe examined in all ofcomplete the followingwaysassessment:-
(i) A report of not more than 2500 words on an analysis of a dataset based on a research question
approved by the Examination Board andbased on material studied in the Principles of Statistics and Principles of Epidemiology modules.Additionally, candidatesCandidates must submit an annotated copy of all statistical code used for the data analysis. (ii
)An assignment of not more than 4000 words selected from a choice of topics approved by the Examination Board and based on the modules studied as set out in the Schedule.(iii) An examination paper relating to the Principles of Epidemiology,.- (iii)
andAn examination paper relating to the Principles of Statistics. - (iv)
AnFourexaminationoptionpaper,modulesrelatingfromtothoseAdvancedlistedGlobal Health Science, relating toin theremainingSchedule.modulesFor each option module candidates must submit a report of not more than 2500 words. The topic and structure of the report will be set out in theSchedule,coursewithhandbook. Candidates will be expected to draw on theexceptioncontent ofPrinciplestheofIntroductionEpidemiology,toandGlobalPrinciplesHealthofScienceStatisticsmodule in the reports for the four option modules. - (v) A dissertation of not more than 10,000 words on a research project as set out in the Schedule below. The research project and the subject of the dissertation must have been approved by the
OrganisingCourseCommitteeDirectors. Candidates will be required to draw on the content of thecourseInternational Research Ethics module when conducting their research project and in the dissertation.

5. Candidates may be examined viva voce and this examination will take place on dates to be determined by the examiners.

6. The arrangements for submission of the dissertation will be
notifiedpublishedtoincandidatesthe course handbook at the start of theMichaelmas Term of the academic year in which the examination is takencourse. -
7. The written submissions for assessment (i) and (
iiiv) must be uploaded to theAssignmentsUniversitysectionapprovedofonlinetheassessmentappropriate section of the course WebLearn siteplatform by the dates to be specifiedby the Organising Committee ofin the courseandhandbookpublished in the UniversityGazette, not later thanat the start ofMichaelmas term oftheacademic year in which the examination is takencourse. Each submission must be accompanied by a declaration of authorship by the candidate. -

Exit Awards
(i) Candidates who have failed the requirement of the MSc but have satisfied the requirements for the award of the Postgraduate Diploma (all the requirements for the MSc, except completion of the dissertation) may be awarded the Postgraduate Diploma.
(ii) Candidates who have satisfied the requirements for the award of the Postgraduate Diploma (all the requirements for the MSc, except completion of the dissertation) and who do not wish to continue their studies, may end their registration and at that point be awarded the Postgraduate Diploma.
