Postgraduate Certificate in Architectural History

Differences from 2016/17 to 2021/22

 

  • 1. Course

    • (a) The course will consist of lectures and classes on architectural history and on site evaluation and survey. The course may be taken on a part-time basis over a one-year period which shall normally be of one year's duration and shall not exceed two years.

    • (b) The course will consist of three taught units, two of which will be on architectural history and one of which will be on site evaluation and survey, which will be offered in three ten-week terms. The course will consist of lectures and classes on architectural history and on site evaluation and survey. The course may be taken on a part-time basis over a one-year period.

  • 2. Every candidate will be required to satisfy the examiners in the following:

    • (a) attendance at the classroom-based courses;

    • (b) submission of the following portfolio of written work:

      • (ia) three essays or projects linked to unit one of the schedule below, each of which shall not exceed 1,500 words in length;

      • (iib) two essays linked to unit two of the schedule below, each of which shall not exceed 2,000 words in length;

      • (iiic) a workbook linked to unit three of the schedule below;

      • (ivd)  a dissertation which shall not exceed 8,000 words in length on a topic agreedselected by the Boardcandidate in consultation with the supervisor and agreed by any two of Studiesthe examiners.

    • The assignmentsassessments under (ia), (iiib) and the dissertation under (ivd) will be forwardeduploaded to the examinersUniversity c/oapproved online assessment platform by the Registry,deadline Departmentand forin Continuingthe Education,format Wellingtongiven Square,in Oxford,the OX1course 2JAhandbook. The assessment under (c) will be submitted in hard copy according to the instructions and by suchthe datesdeadline asgiven in the examinerscourse shall determine and shall notify to candidateshandbook. 

    3. Candidates may be requiredexpected to attend a viva voce examination at the end of the course of studies at the discretion of the examiners.

  • 4. The examiners may award a distinction to candidates for the Certificate.

  • 5. Candidates who fail to satisfy the examiners in the assignments under  2(ia)-(iiic), or the dissertation under 2(ivd), or both,  may be permitted to resubmit work in respect of part or parts of the examination which they have failed for examination on not more than one occasion which shall normally be within one year of the initial failure.
