Master of Science by Coursework in Paediatric Infectious Diseases

Differences from 2018/19 to 2021/22

  • 1. The Divisional Board of Medical Sciences, jointly with the Continuing Education Board, shall elect for the supervision of the course a Standing Committee, which shall have the power to arrange lectures and other instruction.

  • 2. Candidates for admission will be required to have completed the Postgraduate Diploma in Paediatric Infectious Diseases not more than six terms before admission to the M.Sc. A candidate who is subsequently unsuccessful in the Postgraduate Diploma in Paediatric Infectious Diseases will not be permitted to remain on the register for the M.Sc.

  • 3. The course may be taken on a part-time basis over a period of three terms.

  • 4. Every candidate shall be required to satisfy the examiners in a dissertation of not more than 15,000 words on a research project selected by the candidate in consultation with the supervisor and approved by the Standing Committee.

  • The dissertation under clause 4 shall be submitteduploaded to the University approved online assessment platform in hard copy and digital copy,the format to be prescribed in the course handbook, to the examiners for the M.Sc. in Paediatric Infectious Diseases c/o Examination Schools, High Street, Oxford, OX1 4BG,  no later than noon on the 30th September in the final year of the course, or the immediately preceding Friday if that date falls on a weekend.

  • 5. Candidates may be required to attend a viva voce examination at the end of the course of studies at the discretion of the examiners.

  • 6. The examiners may award a distinction to candidates for the M.Sc.

  • 7. A candidate who fails to satisfy the examiners in the dissertation may be permitted to resubmit on one further occasion only, not later than one year after the initial failure.

  • 87. A candidate who is successful in the examination for the M.Sc. in Paediatric Infectious Diseases and has previously completed the Postgraduate Diploma in Paediatric Infectious Diseases shall have his or her Diploma subsumed by the M.Sc.
